JOB OVERVIEW

The Automation and Manufacturing Technology Manager will lead the development and execution of automation strategies that align with long-term business objectives and equipment life cycles. This role will oversee the planning, budgeting, and implementation of automation projects, ensuring they drive cost reduction, efficiency, and operational excellence across the manufacturing environment.

ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES (includes but not limited to)

  • Build an automation strategy that supports long term business objectives and equipment life cycles.
  • Develop capital budgets and project scope of work documents.
  • Partner with internal manufacturing leadership to understand constraints and opportunities in the production environment.
  • Work with external vendors and integrators on equipment needs.
  • Deploy automation projects throughout the manufacturing environment that supports cost reduction and efficiency.
  • Ensure that executed projects achieve objectives and desired results.
  • Develop and implement a manufacturing execution system to actively communicate manufacturing performance and KPIs.
  • Create and build an internal automation team to support long term growth in this space.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year Engineering Degree
  • At least five years of experience designing and leading automation projects.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale automation projects from concept to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial networking.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and vendor management skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment in automation.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Strong time management and productivity skills.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Vendor negotiation and contract management experience.
  • Exposure to emerging automation technologies such as AI-driven process optimization, IoT, and predictive maintenance systems.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does have leadership responsibilities over the process improvement team.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position does require travel to all Robinson facilities.
