About the role

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Summer 2024 Enterprise Threat Analysis Intern in support of our Corporate Security team based out of Reston, VA but this role may be supported 100% remote.

If you're looking to contribute to real-time, customer-focused work related to your field of study, then Peraton's 10-week internship program may be perfect for you! Our intern program places an emphasis on developing the next generation’s workforce; designed to provide college students with the opportunity to learn about Peraton, gain meaningful real world work experience in a professional environment, and work on programs that enable missions of national importance. As part of our internship curriculum, we provide the opportunity for each intern to interact with various branches of the company. This includes attending brown bag sessions with our executive leadership team, joining developmental learning lessons, and participating in team-building activities with mentors and fellow interns. We foster a culture of mentoring, continuous learning, and team orientation that will be evident from your first day on the job. Our goal is to build a roadmap that leads you to a long, rewarding, and challenging career with Peraton! We work with you to determine your desired career path, and the correct steps to achieve your goals.

Peraton has an opportunity for Enterprise Threat Analysis interns to apply the skills they’re gaining in the classroom to real-world problems.  The scope of work will cover Peraton’s Insider Risk, Counterintelligence, Crisis Management, Global Security, and Training and Education programs. Projects will vary in complexity and size. Interns will examine incidents and perform a root-cause analysis, looking for trends and patterns that would inform future mitigating efforts. Analysts will need to use techniques that normalize data from multiple different sources using various scoring methods to uncover actionable commonality.  As opposed to a series of metrics that one would expect from data analysis, the IA output is expected to be more nuanced and qualitative - a challenge that requires skills in data interpretation and not just data scoring. Interns will also work on developing training materials and educational products in support of a broader mission effort.

Internship Advantages:

  • Meaningful work for a national security and space intelligence company.
  • Primary channel for full-time, entry-level hires.
  • Competitive pay.
  • Interaction with executives and leadership.
  • Organized professional development and social activities.

We ask that each intern be available to work the duration of the ten weeks (June to August) and commit to working a minimum of 40 hours per week. This opportunity is geared toward Intelligence Analysis or Public Safety majors, actively enrolled at a four-year university, who will be rising into their junior or senior years. However, strong underclassmen may be considered if they have declared their major and have completed qualified coursework.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma and some advanced level training.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be actively pursuing a 4-year degree at an accredited university.
  • A passion for learning, helping others, and contributing value to the mission in any way possible.
  • Ability to create, sustain, and enhance fostering of team dynamics and collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • You are self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Pursuing a degree in Intelligence Analysis, Public Safety, or a related field.
  • Technical experience with data visualization and analysis
  • Ability to think outside the box, see beyond the obvious and dissect information further.
  • 3.0 and above GPA.
