About the role

Responsible for performing all duties associated with the operations of the Security Control Room. Provides institution-wide flawless customer service, and operator/receptionist services using the master operator console, paging system, and communication system. Communicates efficiently and provides team support to co-workers to meet the departmental demands. Strives to accomplish accuracy when administrating emergency responses. Monitors multiples cameras to identify threats to the employees, patients and visitors. Responds to request for service or assistance and dispatches appropriate personnel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide institution-wide flawless customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues or complaints (e.g., issuance of personnel badges and hangtags).
  • Act as a communication specialist during emergency situations (e.g., Fire, Severe Weather, 911 Calls).
  • Coordinate with Security Management in the preliminary and follow-up investigation of complaints.
  • Maintain daily reports & records and provide written incident reports on all activities during their given shift (e.g., offenses, disruptions).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.


Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • High School diploma/GED required.


Minimum Experience:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of security related experience (e.g., security program, police organization, military branch, conflict counselling).
  • Experience in data entry and working in emergency situations and fast pace stressful environment.
  • Some experience with computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel etc.), with some experience maintaining records, preferred.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.

  • Maintains up to date and accurate records of incidents and problems/issues as needed.
  • Showcases good understanding of security policies, procedures and applicable laws (e.g., Crime- felony, misdemeanor, federal and state laws).
  • Performs a wide variety of duties in support of security requirements, with minimal supervision.
  • Undergoes and clears necessary background checks and driving skills.


Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Successfully complete a physical/health screening examination by Occupational Health, which includes a drug screening; successfully meet and maintain Campus Safety and Security physical requirements.
