We own a fleet of gas-fired power stations across the UK and Europe, South Humber Bank Power Station site lies on the south side of the Humber estuary, west of the town of Grimsby and close to the village of Stallingborough in Northeast Lincolnshire.
The Oppportunity
We have an opportunity for a minimum of third year apprentice to join our Maintenance team.
Reporting to the Maintenance team Leader, the apprentice is part of a team within the Maintenance Department undertaking routine and planned maintenance of complex operational plant. Responds to plant and equipment failures ensuring it is available and in a safe reliable condition to satisfy production demands.
The post holder will work in a wide range of engineering activities and will need to have good levels of general technical competence in all (mechanical/electrical/C&I) systems to achieve this.
They will also develop specific expertise in nominated plant areas to provide the depth of skills required to meet business needs. The post holder has a responsibility to adopt a proactive approach to management of their skills development and day to day activities to meet the requirements of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Execution of routine and non-routine maintenance activities in accordance with agreed procedures and operational requirements to ensure plant is operating safely, effectively and efficiently. Ensures safe working practices and procedures are adhered to within the work area.
- Assist with first line maintenance activities, with response to emergency / unscheduled situations in the event of abnormal incidents in order to protect plant and personnel ensuring compliancy with safety and environmental policies.
- Continue their development through day release at HETA to achieve required standard of Higher education to HNC/HND levels whilst completing the MOET Certification.
- Preparing work method statements, risk assessment and / or plant operating instructions ensuring the required level of maintenance to asset is achieved and records maintained. Supports the safe management of change control processes and ensures Process Safety awareness is maintained throughout all activities.
- Preparing work orders; ordering spares, completing risk assessments and identification of resources. Support the delivery of low contracts, monitoring performance and review with direction and support of the maintenance/engineering team leader.
- Provides Service Support function to the Operations department and ensures defects and status of any maintenance activity is effectively communicated to the shift teams.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required academic qualifications:Minimum of a Grade 4 - 9:
- Maths
- English
- Double/Triple Science
- Two other subjects
Skills:
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Proficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Competent in using IT systems and software
