A Brief Overview

The Principal Cybersecurity Architect is a strategic leader responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Avera's enterprise security architecture. This role ensures the protection of sensitive healthcare data, compliance with industry regulations, and alignment of security initiatives with business objectives. The individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams including business, clinical, and operations to address current and emerging cybersecurity challenges.

What you will do

  • Strategic Security Planning: Develop and maintain comprehensive security strategy plans and roadmaps for on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Security Architecture Development: Create and uphold security architecture artifacts, including models, templates, standards, and procedures, leveraging enterprise architecture tools.
  • Data Protection: Establish and enforce data classification standards to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Policy and Standards Formulation: Draft and update security architecture standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop risk management plans to address vulnerabilities across the Enterprise.
  • Collaboration and Integration: Work closely with IT (including Biomed,) clinical, and operational teams to integrate security solutions that align with business, technology, and threat drivers.
  • Vendor and Audit Management: Evaluate third-party vendors' security postures and collaborate with internal teams to assess the effectiveness of security controls.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, SIEM, EDR, IAM, data encryption, and cloud security tools.
  • Strong understanding of secure software development, DevSecOps, and zero-trust principles.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) - International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) - ISACA
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) - International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC2)
  • Health Information Technology (HIT) - HealthIT
