Overview

The Senior Building Coordinator is an event-driven lead position which provides physical supports projects and employee productivity in the areas of housekeeping, show care, arena conversions, grounds maintenance, room sets and convention services for the Iowa Events Center. This position will support the crews in housekeeping and event set-ups while also supporting the  training, mentoring, coaching employees. Responsible for gaining knowledge of Operations Supervisor responsibilities including, but not limited to, schedule entry, employee training, team supervision, Supervisor support, labor and event forecasting, daily check lists and labor allocation sheets.

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $19.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily training, mentoring, coaching and motivation to part time staff members in day-to-day activities seeking out Operations Supervisors for additional assistance, & correct deficiencies
  • Promptly addresses employee concerns, personnel issues and communicates as needed with Operations Management, reporting escalated concerns immediately
  • Participate in continued development of housekeeping standards and processes.
  • Create a positive teamwork atmosphere, building team morale and a professional environment
  • Address any safety concerns with staff as required through training & coaching. Report escalated safety concerns to management.
  • Monitor teams ensuring staff is working safely and are aware of proper safety guidelines.
  • Leads larger teams on tasks and projects overseeing work quality and productivity in housekeeping, setups, change overs, show care, teardown, convention services and grounds
  • Responsible for the training of all newly hired part-time staff
  • Assist with daily walks on each shift to report building maintenance issues.
  • Assist with Arena post clean follow-up walks
  • Assist with forecasting labor and event equipment needs
  • Lead building organizational efforts
  • Responsible for thorough execution of daily cleaning check lists throughout the facility
  • Learn & receive training on essential job functions of Operations Supervisors
  • Promptly reports any concerns or personnel issues to Operations Management
  • Verifies and reports information from daily cleaning checklists throughout facility
  • Responsible for filling out and verifying quality room sets and other event paperwork
  • Operates an assortment of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, pallet jacks, buffers, burnishers, sweepers, scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums along with folding chairs, stacking chairs, tables of various shapes and sizes, drapery, skirting and staging
  • Responsible for safe use of various supplies including a variety of cleaning chemicals, mops, brooms, shovels and scrapers in completion daily tasks
  • Responsible to read detailed event documentation and diagrams to accurately complete room sets.
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all internal and external clients
  • Must work on-site, maintain excellent attendance, and contribute to a safe & healthy work environment.
  • Represent operations department in absence of operations supervisor
  • Familiar with various levels of operations roles in emergency management procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Event Management, Business, or Facility / Sport Management preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, meeting deadlines
  • Superior interpersonal and professional communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Proficient computer skills in a Windows format including use of MS Office, Excel and Word
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret event resumes for room sets
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines<
