Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Engineer for John Deere ISG located in Urbandale, IA, you will lead a team responsible for creating and managing a federated API infrastructure (currently GraphQL-based) that will enable other teams to publish and manage their own services to be consumed by a wide variety of consumers and devices across the globe. Enabling and assisting other teams with a delightful developer experience will be at the center of this work, including helping guide API design, documentation, developer tooling, enforcing security, and a federated microservice architecture.

What Skills You Need
- Six years of developing web applications or equivalent experience
- Domain-driven design with GraphQL or experience with comprehensive REST systems is desired
- Working with multiple teams in a federated web service architecture
- Technical leadership and mentoring of the engineering team
- Strong communication skills for cross-team and stakeholder collaboration
- Experience designing APIs consumed by multiple teams or external consumers
- Experience with API gateway patterns, service mesh, or federation architectures
What Makes You Stand Out
- Developer experience or platform team background
- Building internal tooling, SDKs, or developer documentation
- Schema governance and API versioning strategies
- GraphQL in general and the Apollo framework specifically
- XP practices (TDD / BDD)
- Java + Spring

- AWS
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Preferred Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering
