Analyze user needs and requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing to improve current and future computer systems and operations university-wide and Lab-wide. Provides technical support to university computer users and academic computing labs for hardware, software, and first-level network connectivity issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide remote and in-person technical support.
- Assist in prompt and efficient technical support. Performs hands-on fixes, including software/hardware installation and upgrade, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications. Writes detailed descriptions of user needs, program functions, and steps required to modify computer systems.
- Assists with installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows and Apple-based platforms and associated hardware devices, including but not limited to printers, copiers, scanners, and software.
- Assess and install appropriate upgrades, patches, drivers, etc. Ensure that all technology resources are adequately set up and are functional.
- Assists in managing networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. Resolve technical issues due to network interruptions.
- Assists in IT Security support, including, but not limited to, installing, mitigating, and remediating viruses on computer systems.
- Help track and manage IT Assets, ensuring accurate records are maintained. Ensure license compliance and proper documentation.
- Manages the moving/transferring university-owned computers or related equipment to transfer ownership to a user or department, surplus or disposal.
- Provides resolution and troubleshoots email and telephone services problems, which include but are not limited to phishing and spam emails, access and connectivity issues, upgrades and distribution of phone systems
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
