Requisition Summary
This position will assist the Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Peterbilt's and PacLease's safety and health programs to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, Department of Transportation (DOT compliance requirements, and the Plant Emergency Team. The chosen incumbent will assist with the division’s safety and occupational health administrative controls to align with corporate’s expectations and ensure the division’s safety compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local agencies. The position will also assist and manage the safety department resources throughout the division. The travel requirement for this position is approximately 15% annually, mostly local.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Conduct Safety Training
- Conduct daily walks
- Maintain monthly audits (hoist, grounding and bonding, eyewash, etc.)
- Develop and lead continuous improvement projects
- Field employee concerns and either address them or pass along to the appropriate person
- Assist with the management of our PPE program (perform trials, order specialty items, etc.)
- Conduct Job Hazard Assessments
- Assist Emergency Response Team with low hazard tasks
- Maintain safety equipment (gas monitors, spot check hoist straps)
- Attend pre shift meetings
- Develop safety communications
- Assist with HAZCOM duties (making labels, inputting new safety data sheets, checking for labels)
Qualifications
- Demonstrated strong oral communication skills, excellent proofreading, and grammatical and written communication abilities.
- A minimum of 1-3 years experience working in supporting executives in an administrative role.
- Strong computer skills with an advanced level of experience in Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management, and representatives of the company as well as dealers and customers.
- Excellent organizational skills, exhibits a professional demeanor, and possesses strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Must meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodation.
Education
High School graduate or equivalent required.
