Marsh is seeking candidates for the following position based in the Austin Lakeline office (hybrid, with three days a week in the office):
Insurance Operations Manager – Surplus Lines and Placement Data Management
What can you expect?
The Insurance Operations Manager works closely with department supervisors, specialists, Zone leadership, and the compliance team to ensure tax filings are completed on time and in compliance with individual state requirements
Responsibility for leading a dedicated team of Insurance Operations Supervisors and Specialists who support over 200 brokers, and who will manage queues of quotes, requests, and inquiries, ensuring data is interpreted and entered correctly
Collaboration with the Marsh Compliance team to raise issues leading to potential state audits and assist in data collection, both of which are key functions of this role
Responsibility for managing projects within the Marsh Middle Office team, including weekly quality reviews and ongoing follow-up with brokers
Communicating feedback within your team; providing senior leadership with transactional updates, trends, and issues; and evaluating/resolving any escalated service issues
Continuously identifying areas for process improvement to increase efficiencies, as well as participate, monitor, and/or oversee the initiatives

We will count on you to:
Manage a team of 5 supervisors, including coaching and on-going personal development, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring the consistency, quality, and accuracy of work being completed
Keep current on pending and actual changes to regulations, and assist in identifying knowledge gaps throughout our US brokerage population, leveraging specialists to train where necessary
Conduct monthly compliance review sessions; communicate fines and penalties resulting in errors from the department or delays from brokers to senior leadership; and partner with finance and approve check requests for tax and penalty payment
Maintain and consistently review staffing needs
Coordinate outstanding tax issues/remediation efforts within assigned geographies
Actively engage in the overall on-boarding process, including interviews of new hires up through the time colleagues are fully integrated into production
What you need to have:
Strong operational background (ideally in the insurance industry)
Minimum 5 years of department management experience in an office environment, with experience managing projects
Excellent written and oral communication skills – able to clearly articulate issues, problems and resolutions within this field
Soft skills: Influencing/persuasiveness – can explain why a process or rule needs to be followed and gain colleague support/change behavior as a result; Quality & Compliance – high ethical behavior; understanding of rules and why they need to be followed, but flexible enough to know when a solution is workable; Drive and self-motivation – able to work independently, follow through on a task/complete a project/meet a deadline; Managerial aptitude – desire to coach, mentor, and develop the team you are supervising
Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency – knowledge of basic Excel formulas and pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
