About the role

Under the direction of the Assistant Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor oversees the organization and management of event planning for the Coliseum Operations. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for any and all other related relevant tasks, including new assignments due to, but not limited to, advancements in technology, process(es), and procedure(s). This position is at-will and not covered as defined by The Board of Commissioners of the County of Allen Employee Handbook.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains and monitors building and venue safety. Responsibilities include facilities that house 15,000 plus members of the general public, employees, and officials at any given time.
• Maintains ice surfaces at proper thickness levels. Responsible for operating equipment including the Zamboni.
• Communicates proactively with customers/clients to manage every aspect of the events presented to the general public at the Coliseum. Organizes and consults all relevant parties and individuals, resolves problems.
• Organizes and physically sets-up facilities for events.
• Supervises building operations, maintenance employees, and/or critical facility repairs.
• Supervises and trains work crews. Provides staff training and development regarding all facilities.
• Monitors building and equipment, reports breakdowns, damages, and related problems to appropriate personnel. Coordinates workflows with other units.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning/maintenance supplies and equipment, making recommendations for purchases as needed.
• Landscaping the complex grounds.
• Performs all other duties as assigned, including overtime as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED and 18-months satisfactory completion of a specialized training in event management or equivalent work-related experience with three years of supervisory experience preferred
• Valid Fork-Lift certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
• Valid Driver’s License to operate County-owned vehicles
• Knowledge and ability to maintain ice surfaces, ensuring proper thickness and composition appropriate for professional hockey and other special events
• Ability to direct and assist in the change-over and set-up requirements for events, including reading CAD drawings, light and heavy equipment operations, as well as physical duties as needed
• Knowledge of employee laws including, but not limited to, OSHA, ADA, and fire code requirements for arenas, ensuring safety of staff and clients
• Strong communication, supervisory, and organizational skills to put together large public events and direct the team to complete set-up properly
• Ability to repair and periodically perform maintenance on entire building, including the 13,000-capacity arena, using variety of power and hand tools
• Ability to repair and maintain arena and telescopic seating, including set-up of telescopic seating, stage set-up, change-over and set-up for events, including seating, floors, barricades, stages, tables, and booths
• Thorough knowledge of Coliseum operations
• Ability to guide and manage third-party labor in the setup of events
• Ability to use a variety of power and manual tools to remove dasher boards, assemble basketball flooring and goals, and perform onsite asset repair
• Ability to use fork trucks and pallet jacks
• Ability to work varying shifts to accommodate events schedules, including nights, holidays and weekends as needed
• Computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office and other job-related software

DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

The work of the Operations Supervisor entails carrying out moderately complex and standardized tasks, processes, and operations in accordance with established laws and procedures. These responsibilities include event setup and the maintenance of the entire Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

RESPONSIBILITY:

The Operations Supervisor holds the responsibility of ensuring the maintenance and monitoring of building and venue safety. Their duties encompass managing all aspects of event set-up for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

The Operations Supervisor regularly communicates with County employees, contract employees, the general public, and vendors. They oversee and monitor the overall facility operations for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Operations Supervisor engages in work that involves sitting, standing, and walking. They frequently lift objects weighing up to forty pounds, climb ladders, exert mental and visual effort, type, monitor equipment, conduct detailed inspections, and perform tasks that may involve bending, pushing/pulling, reaching overhead, kneeling, and craw
