Job Description

Ares is seeking a Principal (Workout/Restructuring) for our Infrastructure Debt Portfolio Management team.

 

Ares Infrastructure Debt sources global assets and businesses with defensive characteristics across the digital, transport, energy and utility sectors. Through 23+ years of industry experience, we have established long standing relationships allowing us to seek to generate exclusive deal flow and high-quality investment opportunities.

 

The Principal will be responsible for supporting the originations team on workouts/restructurings and ongoing control positions within the infrastructure debt group. The role will provide the Principal with significant opportunities for direct interaction with senior leadership and portfolio company executives. This opportunity is the first full-time restructuring professional on the infrastructure debt portfolio management team and offers high visibility both internally and externally.

 

Primary Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Financial modeling and analysis in support of active restructurings and controlled portfolio companies
  • Legal document review and negotiation in consultation with internal and external legal teams
  • Supporting due diligence efforts in support of active restructurings
  • Manage recovery efforts in accordance with workout plans
  • Communicate with management teams and financial advisors in connection with strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance to understand key trends and drivers of portfolio companies
  • Draft and present Investment Committee memos to senior leadership
  • Utilize firm’s proprietary software tools for company tracking
  • Lead performance improvement efforts for controlled portfolio

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent
  • 8+ years of investment banking, workout and/or infrastructure experience
  • Exposure to legal processes and review including bankruptcy
  • Advanced MS Excel modeling skills (v-lookup, macros, and pivot tables) ​ Intermediate to advanced MS PowerPoint skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience reading and analyzing credit, equity, and restructuring related legal documents
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and manage sensitive matters
  • Self-motivated and driven; ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
  • Creative problem solver

  • Periodic travel is required

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$225,000.00 - $250,000.00
