About the role

Carnegie Mellon University’s Office of the Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, within the Office of the Provost, is searching for an Administrative and Special Projects Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment.

This office plays a critical role in leading, championing and facilitating data-driven decision-making at CMU, including data governance and integrity and provides strategic guidance for planning, evaluation, data analysis and research methodologies that support key initiatives and stakeholders across the university.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Office administration – handle routine office work and administrative responsibilities, including scheduling and coordinating meetings and events, office communications, maintaining office websites, and financial responsibilities, such as purchases and reimbursements.
  • Project coordination – support projects stemming from, or happening within, the  for Institutional Effectiveness Office; assist in the gathering, preparation, and submission of information to both internal and external audiences; coordinate office calendars and workflow; and coordinate ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Committee support – logistic support and planning with leadership committees as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree 
  • Experience: 1-3 years experience in project management and 1-3 years experience in administrative coordination work
  • Project Management software proficiency
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Interest in learning data analytic tools (SAS and Tableau)
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Additional Information: 

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.  Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
  • Work Posture: This position is currently operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in-office presence three days a week.
