Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is assigned to the immunization program serving clients under the direct supervision of a licensed physician and the Community Health Nursing Consultant.

Administers immunizations as required to comply with the State of Florida and Department of Health-Osceola (DOH) policies and procedures.  Strives to reach and maintain 95% compliancy in 0-2-year olds, Kindergarten, and Seventh grade in Osceola County.  Provides immunizations to adults and children to include international travel vaccines, rabies, influenza, pneumonia, and other vaccines maintained by the Immunization Department.   Accurately inputs immunizations history and any vaccines administered into the FL SHOTS Registry.  Ensures vaccines imported from FL SHOTS to HMS are accurate on a daily basis.   Completes all appropriate immunization forms required by the State of Florida for all schools and day cares including but not limited to DH 680 forms.  Submit a monthly inventory report to supervisor. Any adjustments or wasted vaccines must be reported weekly.  Maintain a temperature log for the Immunization’s clinic’s refrigerator and freezer daily and notifies when discrepancies occur for out of range.  Keep clinic rooms clean and stocked for use at any time. 

 

Assists with School Health to review immunization records for compliance.  Floats to other clinics as needed.  Maintains tracking log for 01 inventory compliance and assists with 05, 18, 09, and 17 programs.  Enters all data required in Florida Shots per program requirement.  Administers immunizations as required to comply with Center for Disease Control’s travel requirements.  Completes order requests for medical supplies to maintain clinic flow and efficient par level monthly.  Provides education and training to nursing students during clinical rotations as well educating new hires.  Completes vaccine return process on vaccines that are soon to expire.  Completes reminder calls for immunization clients.

 

Participates in the Immunizations program outreach, education, and community health fairs. 

 

Perform other related duties as required.

 

RESPONSIBLE FOR TIMELY SUBMISSION OF TIME SHEETS and EARS and attending all staff meetings.  Completes mandatory trainings as deemed necessary.

Information Custodian responsibilities include maintaining information in accordance with state and federal statutes, rules, regulations and Department of Health Security Policy 3 associated Protocols and Procedures as it relates to information Custodian, Delegation of Authority.  This responsibility is to be adhered to 100% of the time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to administer vaccines. Knowledge of computer. Ability to work off site and extra hours. Ability to be organized. 

Qualifications:

Minimum - 

  • Licensed Practical Nurse licensure in the State of Florida or a multistate license
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and willing to travel to other sites in Osceola County to perform your duties
  • At least one year experience providing immunizations
  • Willing to work during or beyond your normal work hours in Special Needs Shelter, Red Cross Shelter, Emergency Operation Command Center (EOCC), or to perform other emergency functions in the event of an emergency.
  • Willing to physically come in the office daily and also perform field work.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred -

  • At least one (1) recent year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
  • At least one (1) or more years of experience in any of the following: Primary Care, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV health, hospital setting, or outpatient clinical settings
  • At least one (1) or more years of experience in performing venipunctures
  • Experience in documenting and retrieving clinical information in the computer
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and fluently speak, read, and write both languages
  • Experience documenting in the FL Shots registry
