About the role

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Atlassian Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, implement, and administer Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence to support enterprise workflow, collaboration, and reporting needs.

  • Configure, customize, and maintain Atlassian tools including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and related plugins.

  • Configure custom workflows, automation rules, plug-ins, and integrations to improve team productivity and system usability.

  • Design and implement workflows, dashboards, and automation to support Agile and SAFe processes.

  • Integrate Atlassian tools with DevSecOps pipelines, CI/CD tools, and enterprise systems .

  • Develop and maintain custom scripts, plugins, and integrations using Atlassian APIs and scripting tools.

  • Support configuration management, issue tracking, backlog management, and reporting across program teams.

  • Design and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions to provide visibility into program metrics, performance, and delivery status.

  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, and DevOps teams to align tooling with operational needs.

  • Support user onboarding, training, and troubleshooting for Atlassian tools.

  • Ensure system configurations align with security, compliance, and governance requirements.

  • Perform system administration tasks including upgrades, patching, and performance tuning of Atlassian environments.

  • Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve workflow efficiency.

  • Maintain documentation, configuration standards, and best practices for Atlassian tool usage.

  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience administering and configuring Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.).

  • Experience designing workflows, dashboards, and automation within Jira and related platforms.

  • Experience integrating Atlassian tools with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps environments.

  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Groovy, Python, REST APIs).

  • Proven experience in configuring custom workflows, automation rules, plug-ins, and integrations.

  • Strong understanding of user permissions, access controls, and system performance management.

  • Experience in monitoring platform health, performing upgrades, and maintaining system reliability and security.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong documentation skills for system configurations, workflows, and user guides.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and align solutions with organizational processes and governance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Agile or SAFe frameworks.

  • Atlassian certifications (e.g., Jira Administrator, Atlassian Certified Professional).

  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS GovCloud, SC2S AWS Secret Region C
