Sr. Merchandise Specialist

The Sr. Merchandise Specialist is an integral component of the Services division supporting a successful merchant team in driving forward growth and operational efforts. This role will be expected to work cross-functionally with home office and field associates to support the daily needs of Staples stores. This position is also responsible for data analysis to drive business optimization and decisions. Candidate must be willing to work a hybrid model. 

What you’ll be doing: 

• Support merchants’ strategies in Retail and Ecommerce 
• Create and maintain promotions and promotional calendar 
• Collect and organize service information from vendors 
• Communicate and compile feedback from field teams 
• Work closely with operations and other internal teams to launch new products & programs
• Weekly category reporting on trends and ad hoc reports and analysis 
• Review competitors store and online experiences for new product ideas, notable promotions, and pricing opportunities
• Flexibility to manage changing priorities to drive business 

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1 to 2 years of experience
• High attention to detail 
• Ability to learn fast and think on your feet 
• Ability to work independently and execute across multiple groups 
• Superior verbal and written communication skills necessary o Leadership mentality 
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload o Basic retail math understanding 
• Organized, proactive personality, ability to multi-task 
• Proficient Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Negotiation experience 
• Merchandising Experience
• Retail Store experience a plus
