Description
SUMMARY
The Credit Analyst I assesses and evaluates the financial condition of businesses which have obtained or seek to obtain credit from the bank. Preparation of written credit analysis/reviews on credits ranging from $100M – $3MM.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs credit analysis and review on renewed and existing loans, including data from the applicant, and various additional sources, including existing bank customer information and records, credit bureaus, credit organizations, other financial institutions, and industry experts.
- Spreads financial statements in accordance with a prescribed format and prepares summaries and opinions for bank officers and management.
- Review trends in the customer’s business, comparing past years, and assessing covenant compliance. Review industry trends, assess collateral, initiate credit inquiries, and assess guarantor position.
- Ensures adherence to loan policy and risk management goals of the bank.
- Propose recommendations (structure or otherwise) to mitigate identified risks. Discuss findings with Credit Manager and lending staff to communicate recommendations as to loan structure as to enhance credit quality both on an individual and portfolio basis.
- Reviews financial statements and related information to determine borrowers' adherence to loan covenants.
- Reviews credit files to assure current reports, financial statements, accounts receivable aging and borrowing base certificates, commercial field examinations, and other pertinent customer information.
- Review legal documentation key loan and approval terms, identify and test covenants. Maintain related trackers as required.
- Assembles and distributes Loan Approval Committee packages as requested.
- Writes Loan Approval Committee minutes as requested.
- Notes exceptions to policy based upon Credit Request Summaries and other sources.
- Prepares various periodic reports with respect to the loan portfolio as requested.
- Other duties as determined.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred; and at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of commercial and industrial lending practices and related areas.
- Thorough knowledge of corporate and personal financial statements.
- Excellent financial analytical skills with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to build strong relationships and alliances across the organization, ability to adapt to change, ability to multi-task, reliable and highly self-motivated.
- Aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. The communicative nature of the position and analysis product, as reviewed by management, various boards, and regulators requires the individual to possess excellent language and communicative skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Good mathematical skills are necessary given the analytical nature of the position.
REASONING ABILITY
