A Project Director within Blizzard Video, which is part of the Story & Franchise Development (SFD) team, oversees the creative development and production of engaging video game trailers for Blizzard Entertainment game franchises, marketing teams, and other organizational departments. The project director is a leader, artist, strategist, and ambassador all in one.
As a Project Director, you will work with a team of capture artists, editors, motion graphics artists and producers to guide projects from discovery and strategic development, to production, post-production and delivery. You will act as an internal and external liaison, engaging with project stakeholders to identify objectives and generate strategic creative solutions to achieve our client’s goals. The Project Director works under the direction of the Creative Director and works towards the completion of day-to-day projects while also supporting the success of the department.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.
This is a 12-month temporary position.
What You Bring to the Table
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Act as creative lead for assigned projects, partnering with clients, producers, capture teams, editors, artists, and sound designers to produce a finished product of the highest quality.
- Direct teams of artists through all aspects of video game trailer production, including game capture, editorial, motion graphics, sound design and music.
- Independently develop custom creative pitches for incoming project requests.
- Lead pitch meetings with confidence and clarity, applying tactful but effective salesmanship to communicate the efficacy and merit of each conceptual approach.
- At times manage creative relationships with outsource partners while directing external agencies and vendors.
- Collaborate closely with editorial, motion graphics game capture teams to craft compelling content that leverages the best practices and cutting-edge techniques unique to each discipline.
- Maintain communication with all stakeholders and team members to ensure a project’s creative trajectory is consistent with the strategy and objectives outlined in the pitch and pivot when needed.
- Foster teamwork and a hands-on, lead-by-example approach to the daily needs of production by rolling up your sleeves and getting into the trenches with members of your team when a project demands it.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience as a director, creative director, associate creative director or creative manager at a game company, advertising agency, or branded content production company.
- Experience managing a range of creative positions in a content creation pipeline, with an emphasis on game capture artists, editors, motion graphics artists, production designers, and art directors.
Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in design, film, media, communications, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Key Attributes
- Masterful proficiency with computers and creative desktop publishing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Impressive portfolio featuring high-quality, high-impact strategically informed game trailers for a variety of well-known IP and diverse audiences.
