We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Mechanical Engineer with experience in automotive program launches to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in CAD design, vehicle trim components, and root cause analysis. This position requires a proactive and leadership-oriented individual capable of directing teams, mentoring staff, and implementing quick solutions to installation and fit issues. The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the successful launch of automotive programs while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities;

  • Lead and support activities during automotive program launches, including pre-SOP preparation and post-SOP refinement (6 months before SOP to 3 months after).
  • Oversee the design and development of vehicle components, with a focus on hard trim, soft trim, carpet, and NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) materials.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for fit and functional issues, utilizing methods such as:
    • eCube reviews and measurements.
    • Organizing and leading metrology resources to generate dimensional data (e.g., scans).
    • Designing experiments (DOE) and applying fishbone diagrams and 8D problem-solving techniques.
  • Implement quick countermeasures for installation and fit challenges, such as:
    • Developing 3D-printed solutions.
    • Utilizing tape, foam, grinding, and cutting methods.
  • Provide hands-on support and direction to teams for proper installation and assembly of components.
  • Mentor and coach line workers to ensure compliance with best practices and installation standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the timely delivery of program milestones.

Qualifications;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CAD design, preferably using 3Dx or Catia V5.
  • Direct involvement in at least two automotive program launches from 6 months pre-SOP to 3 months post-SOP.
  • Proficiency with vehicle components, including:
    • Hard trim (upper/lower).
    • Soft trim, carpet, and NVH materials (preferred).
  • Strong background in root cause analysis, including:
    • Conducting eCube reviews and dimensional measurements.
    • Organizing and leading metrology activities.
    • Utilizing problem-solving methodologies (e.g., DOE, fishbone diagrams, 8D reports).
  • Hands-on experience with implementing countermeasures for fit and functional issues.
  • Proven ability to mentor and coach team members to achieve installation and assembly excellence.
  • Strong problem-solving, leadership, and organizational skills.
