Job Description

This role reports to the Head of Operations & Infrastructure and is responsible for responsible for leading a Distributed Systems Engineering and Architecture teams globally. The team is responsible for architecture and engineering of hardware and software for compute, storage and the software that supports them including virtualization, containers, automation and infrastructure as code.  The team has the responsibility for designing, deploying and managing solutions throughout their full system lifecycle.

In this role you will be accountable for designing and building innovative infrastructure solutions to support a massively scaled and high throughput environment in both private and public cloud datacenters. The position interacts with senior leadership within Visa and with a diverse set of vendors. You will drive key technology, platform and tooling decisions balancing technical, practical and application considerations.  Extensive experience managing engineering teams as a hands on technical leader is a must. We are looking for a strong, passionate, seasoned, and innovative technology leader who will be a part of the Technology Leadership team and work collaboratively across Visa with different stakeholders to deliver commercial services to our clients. This is an incredibly senior and transformational role, and one of autonomy and next generation thinking.   

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of approximately 170 located across the globe in locations in the US, UK, Singapore and India.
• Develop technology strategies and roadmaps to meet business objectives with emerging technologies by partnering with Technology and Product stakeholders
• Design and implement agile innovative infrastructure solutions that take advantage of technology advances resulting standardization, cost reduction and performance.
• Provide Compute as a Service offering to internal customers that are easy to consume, elastic, secure and reliable using Open Source based Cloud/ Container solutions.
• Partner with all the teams to design, implement and integrate Open Source based private cloud/ Containers platform in Visa’s data centers across the globe, enable the cloud solution to interoperate smoothly with existing IT infrastructure and processes, ensure security, availability and agility.
• Implement programs to reduce surface attack area through adoption of minimalistic operating systems
• Drive the adoption of standard toolsets to reduce complexity and support Operational goals for increasing automation across the enterprise
• Apply creative thinking/approach to determine technical solutions that further business goals and align with corporate technology strategies, while considering security, performance, reliability, scalability, usability, flexibility, and cost
• Provide resource plans, budget tracking and forecasting. Manage the team to achieve target scope, schedule and cost objectives
• Manage CAPEX/ OPEX for large initiatives. Drive requirement for vendor contracts and negotiation.
