Pulmonary Medicine Associates (PMA) has been treating patients in the greater Sacramento area since 1973 and is a unique and exciting place to work. With specialties that include critical care, infectious disease, palliative care, pulmonology, pediatric pulmonology, sleep medicine, and travel medicine, we are a busy practice with over 70 providers and 2 outpatient clinic locations.

PMA currently has a full-time Patient Scheduler position available. Duties include:

  • Schedule at least 300 new and return patient appointments per month.
  • Assist department in maximizing filled clinic rates for all PMA clinics.
  • Verify insurance eligibility for all appointments.
  • Answer inbound phone calls, screen, and transfer to appropriate PMA employee if not scheduling-related.
  • Check Athena Communicator inbox daily. Respond via patient case or phone or forward to appropriate PMA employee.
  • Register new patients and enter data or verify patient demographic information per PMA protocol.
  • Assist patients with the patient portal, including set up and patient questions.
  • Print new patient packets and mail or email with an appointment card.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year related customer service work experience. Experience in a medical environment is strongly preferred.
  • Good computer skills. Knowledge of EMR preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance preferred.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, patients, and the general public.
  • Strong detail orientation.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to accurately type 45 WPM.
  • Valid California driver’s license and automobile insurance. Ability to drive to different clinics.
