HP’s Global Tax organization has an opening available for a Tax Analyst - Global Income Tax Accounting located in Houston, TX. This role will be part of the tax accounting team that leads the consolidation and reporting of HP’s global income tax provisions.
The Tax Analyst - Global Income Tax Accounting role is an integral part of the tax reporting function. In this position, the successful candidate will focus on the quarterly review and consolidation of legal entity income tax provisions, primarily focusing on reviewing non-US tax provisions. The successful candidate will report to and support the Tax Manager of Income Tax Accounting in special projects, unique tax accounting issues and the accurate reporting of HP’s consolidated income tax reporting under US GAAP. HP’s Global Tax Organization provides unique exposure to complex and cutting edge global tax issues.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to utilize tax knowledge and previous experience to make valuable contributions and assist in meeting the tax department’s objectives while working in a dynamic, team oriented organization. The ideal candidate should have exceptional process execution abilities and a meticulous attention to detail in order to produce a high quality work product.
Responsibilities:
- Review of non-U.S. income tax provision models with inputs from the global tax team, local controllership, and the legal entity accounting
- Review of HP’s deferred and current income tax balances, by legal entity
- Detailed review of HP’s quarterly accruals, including, return to accrual adjustments, uncertain tax positions and other discrete items
- Partner with U.S. and non-U.S. tax teams to ensure accurate tax reporting
- Coordinate with and manage third party tax advisors in review of legal entity tax provisions
- Assist with the review of HP’s worldwide tax provision
- Assist with the review of the tax portions of HP’s financial statements
- Assist with the management of the external audit of the consolidated tax provision
- Manage internal audit and external audit data requests for tax consolidation internal control audits and reviews
- Monitor tax legislative updates and technical guidance
- Identify process improvements to support on-going direct tax technology process transformation
- Work with the consolidated financial reporting team for income tax accounting related inquiries
Education and Experience Required:
- First-level university degree or equivalent experience; Master of Taxation or Professional Accountancy, preferred
- At least 5 years of total professional experience with a focus in ASC 740, public accounting experience an advantage
- CPA license preferred but not required
Knowledge and Skills:
- Complete systematic understanding of income tax reporting and thorough knowledge of professional accounting and financial reporting systems
- Superior communication with a team-oriented work ethic
- Knowledge of corporate income tax laws
- Exceptional financial and business acumen
- Excellent project management, problem solving, and analytical skills, and the ability to execute a project within the scope of overall strategies
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects and engagement teams
- OneSource Tax Provision (“OTP”) experience preferred
