Production Supervisor

PURPOSE
The Production Supervisor is responsible for the areas of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling the Production Department in support of the Production Department/Indianapolis Factory Mission.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Safety
• Facilitate the operation of all equipment in the Production Department to be conducive to a safe and accident-free work environment. Ensure that all safety procedures or guidelines are followed on a consistent basis.
• Ensure the recognition of all MSDS related to materials used in the Production Department.
• Ensure knowledge and execution of all evacuation and emergency procedures relevant to the Production Department.
Daily Operations
• Ensure all orders scheduled to assigned work centers are completed daily.
• Key in data for productivity/quality tracking.
• Lead meetings to address corrective actions, quality issues, etc.
• Prepare reports regarding Production Department performance in terms of quality, on-time delivery, productivity and volume and accuracy for use in the process of continuous improvement.
• Develop and implement process improvements related to the Production Department operations.
• Facilitate effective communication with all related departments/Group Leaders regarding Production Department issues.
• Ensure all components, expensed or non-expensed, are properly stocked and that the inventory is accurate.
General Responsibilities
• Administration of attendance and disciplinary action for team members.
• Consistent application of company policies and procedures with team members.
• Administration and facilitation of team member training in accordance with Job proficiencies and other organizational requirements.
• Development of ISO documentation with team members and administration of adherence to documented procedures.
• Participation in cost control relating to the departmental budget.
• Supervise cleanroom operations, including monitoring personnel, equipment, maintenance, and processes to ensure compliance with ISO standards and regulatory requirements.
• Participation in the employee performance evaluation process.
• In this role, you will complete all other duties as assigned by your Manager
New hires will be provided additional training on SMC ERP systems, standards, and practices.
This job may require a person to be in front of a computer monitor for long periods.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
• The physical demands of this position require the employee to stand, walk, and use their hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with their hands and arms. The role will also necessitate the Supervisor to lift heavy components (up to 40Lbs) as needed.
• The person is frequently required to climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to hear and talk.
• In some areas, supervision of the clean room will require head-to-toe clean room gowning.
• While the production facility is temperature controlled, the work environment may expose employees to noise, heat, open flame, cold, dust, lubricants and/or solvents.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Degree in industrial supervision and/or prior experience in supervision.
• Detail-oriented with strong time management skills.
• Work in a team environment for increased productivity and quality.
• Communication: Must be able to read/write/speak and understand English. Must be able to effectively communicate.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Varying levels and combinations of the above will be strongly considered.
