Job Summary:
Rakuten Advertising is seeking a motivated intern to join our engineering team and contribute to a critical data infrastructure initiative. You will work on consolidating our usage tracking and reporting pipelines across multiple internal systems, helping define standardized data formats that enable better analytics and insights. This role offers hands-on experience with cloud data technologies including Google Pub/Sub and BigQuery, while working alongside experienced engineers on production systems. You'll gain practical experience in data engineering, system integration, and technical documentation—skills highly valued in modern software development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing usage tracking implementations across systems to document current implementations
- Design a standardized data format for tracking UI interactions and API request/response metrics
- Implement data pipeline components using golang, Pub/Sub and BigQuery
- Create documentation for the new usage tracking system, including field definitions and implementation guidelines

- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related technical field
- Experience with at least one programming language such as Go, Java, or Python
- Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Familiarity with SQL and working with large datasets
- Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret logging data and system metrics
- Good written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the hourly rate for this role will be between $30 - $35 per hour. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
