About the Role
The Radiology RN (Nurse) is a Critical Care RN and delivers general nursing care to patients in all areas of the Radiology/Imaging and Pain Management Departments including: Vascular and Neurovascular Angiography, Pain Management and Diagnostic Imaging areas of Ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MRI), X-ray, Nuclear Medicine and Mammography. The Nurse takes immediate action in emergency situations and responds to patient needs before, during and after procedures. The Nurse performs pre and post examination assessments for Angiography, Pain Management, CT scans and procedures and other minor special procedures such as Lumbar Punctures and Myelograms. Physical exam will include extremity pulses and sheath insertion site, as appropriate. Allergies, current medication and medical history which could have an adverse effect on the patient or exam and sedation analgesia will also be assessed. The Nurse educates the patient and their family regarding pre, intra and post procedural care. The Nurse documents care and education given and relays patient status information to the managing physician. The Radiology RN endorses the patient to any subsequent patient care unit with a thorough and specific report (hand off). The Nurse follows established standards and practices under the direction of a credentialed Vascular, Neuroendovascular Interventionist, Pain Management Physician, a credentialed Radiologist or qualified physician. The Nurse is assigned to all aspects of Radiology.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Conducts preliminary assessment of patients; reprioritizes as indicated.
- Confirms with patient that the primary nurse completed care as expected; Meets patient needs. Provides feedback to the primary nurse on patient responses to care delivered.
- Endorses patient care status and needs to RN assuming responsibility during absence at lunch, break or meeting.
- Relieves/provides patient hand-offs that thoroughly describes patient/family course of events and specific needs, with emphasis on safety.
- The RN ensures correct patient identity and planned procedure 100% of the time by verbally verifying the patients name and date of birth and completion of site verification form when applicable.
- Ensures that the informed operative consent is prepared, signed, and witnessed according to hospital policy and procedure 100% of the time as noted in the patient’s chart.
- Assessment contains information related to the safety level of the patient while addressing the patient’s physical and social needs and mental status.
- Nurse must identify risks for alteration in breathing patterns and/or ineffective airway clearance during a procedure.
- Assesses and monitors the patient’s condition, including, but not limited to vital signs and ECG changes. These values will be documented in the patient’s electronic medical record, as will any necessary appropriate nursing interventions.
- The nurse’s assessment will be accurate and reflect potential/actual deficits in the patient’s condition.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
Required:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the NJ State Board of Nursing.
- One (1) year radiology or procedural nursing experience preferred. ACLS/PALS/BLS certifications are required.
- Critical Care experience required.
- Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking.
- Effective interpersonal skills. Ability to organize care/activities of multiple patients.
- Proficiency in the English language is required.
Preferred:
IV Certification is preferred.
Credential required: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the NJ State Board of Nursing, American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, BLS

Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is UB-01D: $45.55 - $55.82 - $61.95 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
