Description:

Provides respiratory care to patients of all ages, with particular emphasis on critical care, as ordered by physicians to be established standards and practices. Performs some respiratory diagnostic testing and is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and stocking of some supplies and equipment.

  • Is proficient in all aspects of adult respiratory critical care.  These aspects include thorough, demonstrable working knowledge of all ventilator systems used in this organization
  • Procures, assembles, and applies respiratory care equipment and administers medications as ordered by the physician and according to the departmental standards. 
  • Performs arterial punctures, according to physician orders and to the departmental and regulatory standards. 
  • Responds and performs CPR appropriately.  This includes: a timely response to Code Blue emergency, appropriate use of resuscitation equipment, and ability to assist others with intubations, arterial punctures, and the transporting of patients, the checking, cleaning, and re-stocking of all respiratory emergency supplies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Education:

1. Technical School/2 Years College / associate’s degree required

Licensure/Certification:

1.  PA State license Respiratory Care Practitioner

2. Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS

3.  NBRC - RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
