Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Benesch is offering a career opportunity for a Sr. Geotechnical Engineer to join our geotechnical group to support clients located across the United States. The successful candidate will have strengths in geotechnical engineering theory and practice.  Collaboration with other disciplines and technical staff on a wide range of geotechnical projects.

The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced consultant with 20+ years of geotechnical experience and strong client relationship skills. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and an ability to mentor and develop staff.

Location 

This position could be 100% remote, working primarily with the geotechnical group in Lincoln, NE, while also collaborating with other groups throughout Benesch.

The Impact You Will Have

• Assisting with preliminary desktop study of site conditions and proposal efforts
• Conducting site assessments, if needed
• Review geotechnical analyses and recommendations for design and construction on the following:
• Transportation (roadway, rail, aviation) projects including embankment and retaining wall settlement and slope stability, subgrade stabilization, bridge foundations, and pavement design
• Rock cut and tunnel stability assessments
• Levee and dam projects
• Building projects including shallow and deep foundations, floor slabs, and pavement sections
• Civil/Site Development projects including site grading, utility installation, slope stability analysis, and pavement determination
• Review of geotechnical engineering reports, including subsurface exploration, laboratory analyses, geology and site condition summaries, and recommendations for design and construction
• Oversight of construction observation and materials testing, if needed
• Interaction with internal and external clients, project teams, subconsultants and contractors

What We Are Looking For

• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with clients and team members
• Minimum 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering
• Ability to review complex analyses and designs, and strong proficiency in geotechnical theory
• Experience in mentoring and technical training for less experienced engineers, geologists, and technicians
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required
