About the role

 Job Summary:

The Patient Financial  Supervisor will oversee the financial counseling services provided to patients, ensuring that they receive comprehensive guidance on their healthcare expenses, insurance benefits, and available financial assistance programs. This role involves supervising a team of Financial Counselors, developing policies and procedures, and collaborating with other departments to facilitate patient access to care.

 Essential Functions:

  • Lead and supervise a team of financial counselors to provide exceptional patient support and financial guidance.
  • Develop and implement financial counseling policies and procedures in alignment with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure a seamless patient experience regarding financial matters.
  • Oversee the patient financial assistance program, including application processing, eligibility determination, and communication with patients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations, healthcare laws, and financial assistance programs to provide accurate information to patients and staff.
  • Analyze financial counseling data to identify trends, improve services, and report to senior management.
  • Conduct training sessions for financial counselors to enhance their knowledge and skills.

 Supervisory Function:

  • Minimum three years of supervisory/management experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in financial counseling or patient financial services within a healthcare setting.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare finance, insurance processes, and financial assistance programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in financial software and patient management systems.
