Fabrication/Machine Shop Lead Person (Day Shift)

Job Description

Pay Rate: $31.00 per hour. 

(Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 12:00am-4:59am)

• Provide welding/fabrication/machine shop support, company and assist supervisor in projects when necessary.
• Decision-Making Responsibilities: Determine job requirements daily for those in shop, designing, fabricating, and provide for job safety.
• Working Relationships: Internally: Department as well as other division and company employees. Externally: Material suppliers and outside vendors.
• Analyze and repair welding/fabrication/machine shop malfunctions.
• Work from blueprints/schematics to perform maintenance/repair/machining or install equipment.
• Report (in writing) materials and replacement parts needed for jobs; prepare and maintain maintenance invoices are required.
• Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (e.g., welders/fabricators/machinists classes B and C).
• Lay out estimate jobs; determine appropriate metal types/thicknesses to be used.
• Weld mild steels, stainless and aluminum metals.  
• General cleaning and/or assisting other crews if required.
• Maintaining safety, housekeeping, and sanitation and disease control requirements while performing job duties.
• On call dispatch calls when scheduled. 

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 4 years of training on the job and/or formal schooling.
• Must be able to pass a Welder/Fabricator Level A test.
• Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and complete work in a timely and efficient manner.
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work from a ladder.
• Must have and maintain a California driver’s license and an acceptable DMV rerecord
