About the role and the team

GlobalConnect is expanding its data center footprint across the Nordics and Northern Europe. To support this growth, we are strengthening our Large Projects organization with a Data Center Designer (SME) based in Taastrup.

You will join a small, senior, and highly specialized team working across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. While the role is based in Denmark, your technical contribution and collaboration will be international, supporting both new builds and expansions of existing data center facilities.

In this role, you act as the technical authority within large data center projects. You work closely with Project Managers, Sales, Procurement, external consultants, vendors, and Operations. A key success factor in this role is your ability to act as a Trusted Advisor — providing clear, well-founded technical guidance, challenging solutions when needed, and building confidence with both internal stakeholders and external customers and suppliers.

The role requires strong presence on-site, close interaction with interfaces, and hands-on involvement in the data center environment.

Key responsibilities and what you will do during a typical week

  • Act as technical authority within large data center projects
  • Provide expert input on mechanical and electrical design across mission-critical facilities
  • Review and challenge consultant and supplier designs to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance
  • Support early project phases through concept design, system architecture discussions, and design reviews
  • Perform technical risk assessments and support structured decision-making
  • Define and review technical requirements, specifications, and scopes of supply
  • Participate in FATs, site inspections, commissioning activities, and acceptance testing
  • Ensure proper documentation and high-quality handover to Operations
  • Contribute to standardisation and repeatable technical solutions across projects

Who we are looking for

In a nutshell, we are looking for a technically strong and structured professional who enjoys working with complex systems, many stakeholders, and high expectations on quality.

You are confident in your technical judgement, comfortable challenging designs and requirements, and motivated by acting as a Trusted Advisor — both internally and towards customers and suppliers. You understand the importance of operational readiness and take pride in delivering solutions that work long-term.

If so, we would love to hear from you.
