Department Overview:
Purpose of the RoleThe Website & SEO Intern supports the marketing department by managing and improving The Rigby’s digital presence. This role focuses on optimizing the website for search engines, ensuring brand consistency across platforms, and using AI-assisted tools to improve visibility, engagement, and performance. The intern works closely with the Head of Marketing and other team members to ensure all web and SEO strategies align with current promotions and branding.

1Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in or recently completed coursework in Marketing, Communications, Web Design, Digital Strategy, or a related field• Familiarity with website platforms such as Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress
• Basic understanding of SEO best practices and how search engines work
• Interest in using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Jasper, SurferSEO) for content optimization and idea generation
• Strong writing, editing, and research skills
• Experience with Google Analytics or willingness to learn
• Bonus: exposure to HTML/CSS, email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Constant Contact), or branding principles
• No prior job experience required, but hands-on class projects, personal websites, or relevant portfolio examples are a plus

Knowledge
• Understanding of SEO fundamentals and digital search strategy
• Familiarity with web platforms (e.g., Wix, Squarespace, WordPress)
• Awareness of brand identity and visual consistency online
• Basic understanding of how AI tools can support SEO and content creation
• Knowledge of online review platforms and web traffic behavior
Skills
• Strong written communication and content editing
• Ability to structure web pages for clarity and keyword relevance
• Comfort using digital tools (Google Analytics, keyword planners, ChatGPT, SurferSEO)
• Visual design sensibility for formatting pages and marketing materials
• Research skills for staying current on SEO and AI trends

• Work independently and follow through on assigned tasks
• Identify technical or content issues on a website and suggest solutions
• Interpret website performance data and summarize insights
• Collaborate with other interns (marketing, social media, events) for unified messaging

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Website & SEO Intern is responsible for maintaining and improving The Rigby’s digital presence across all online platforms. This includes updating website content, optimizing pages for search engines, supporting branding consistency, and assisting with email campaigns and online reviews. The intern will also explore the use of AI tools to streamline content development and improve visibility. This role works closely with the Head of Marketing and contributes directly to the public-facing image and discoverability of the business.
Job Duties
• Update and maintain website pages, event listings, and promotional content
• Optimize on-page SEO using keywords, formatting, and structure improvements
• Track and report on web traffic and page performance using tools like Google Analytics
• Ensure visual and branding consistency across the website and connected platforms
• Assist with managing online reviews and reputation tools
• Help create and format digital flyers, menus, or promotional materials
• Support setup and scheduling of email campaigns
• Use AI tools to draft SEO-friendly headlines, product/event descriptions, and blog-style content
• Collaborate with social media and event teams to align messaging
• Maintain organized records of changes, updates, and performance metrics
Physical Demands:
This role is primarily computer-based and does not require significant physical activity for day-to-day tasks. However, occasional walking or travel may be required to assist with neighborhood marketing efforts, such as distributing flyers, photographing nearby promotions, or supporting local cross-promotions. Must be comfortable using a smartphone for capturing content and navigating digital tools. Ability to sit, type, and focus on screen-based tasks for extended periods is also required.
