Role Description

Form Energy is looking for an experienced manufacturing engineering leader to lead the development of processes, equipment, and metrology methods for our proprietary air cathodes. This is an exciting opportunity to take a technical leadership role in our Advanced Manufacturing team, in which you will build and lead a highly skilled cross-functional team responsible for innovation and development of air cathodes manufacturing. Your team of manufacturing, equipment & process engineers will imagine and deliver first-of-kind equipment sets and processes that will scale manufacturing of two cathode electrodes. Your team will design and deploy the manufacturing systems ranging from from pilot scale to highly automated, continuous processes with comprehensive metrology.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Eighty Four, PA facility. Relocation assistance is available. 

What You'll Do:

  • Build and lead a world-class manufacturing development team that translates air cathode materials and designs from the lab to robust high volume equipment sets and processes.

  • Define and implement best practices for air cathode manufacturability assessment, design for manufacturing, manufacturing cost modeling, and manufacturing partner qualification.

  • Work closely with the design, R&D & other manufacturing engineering teams to integrate DfM & process control feedback to continuously improve cost and quality.

  • Develop pilot, low volume and high volume air cathode manufacturing equipment sets and execute on the plan for process stability.

  • Define, develop, and implement metrology and quality control methods.

  • Your team will own the process of handing off stable manufacturing systems to operations teams.

What You'll Bring:

  • Extremely high level of motivation to succeed in the face of complex and exciting technical challenges.

  • 10 years manufacturing experience. Ideally, in one or multiple of the following fields: Coatings, powder handling, tape making, lamination, assembly and automation. 

  • Experience building and leading a world-class manufacturing engineering team.

  • Expertise in driving process & equipment maturity to enable high volume manufacturing.

  • Experience in championing Design For Manufacturing (DFM) & Process definition with product design & R&D teams.

  • As well as, experience in championing effective transition of the manufacturing systems to the operations teams. 

  • Deep experience in hardware manufacturing line design, installation, commissioning, and production ramp ideally in for a novel or immature process.

  • Experience owning the design and development of custom manufacturing equipment via internal teams and in partnership with equipment suppliers and automation vendors.

  • Demonstrated experience in driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies.

  • B.S. or higher in engineering or physical science(s)
