Basic Job Functions:

The role of a Shift Mechanic is to ensure the highest reliability of our equipment at the most effective cost. Working as a team to develop and refine our processes, practices, and equipment to continue ensure Nucor’s long-term success. 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2- or 4-year technical degree and/or 3 years’ experience in industrial maintenance.

• 2+ years experience in Hydraulic/Pneumatic maintenance and repair.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Welding certified with fabrication experience.
2. Demonstrates mechanical/maintenance aptitude.
3. Electrical / PLC knowledge (i.e. 0-500v qualified).
4. CMMS knowledge.
5. Operational experience (mill equipment as well as mobile equipment).
