Position Summary
The Engineering Section Manager is responsible for process improvements, process development, and equipment upgrades. Provides all aspects of leadership to engineering team. Provides strategic overview and planning to maintain a cohesive program of process and equipment improvement in direct support of plant goals and needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages and leads a team of engineers.
- Provide development/guidance of direct report colleagues in their technical and professional careers, complete performance reviews.
- Functions as site expert of technical efforts related to processes and equipment within the facility.
- Develops ideas and projects for capital improvements; ensures delivery and execution of approved capital projects.
- Provide technical support to the Manufacturing or Utilities operation.
- Serve as a back-up to the Maintenance Department to resolve equipment operational issues.
- Assist and lead in non-conformance investigations, including the development and execution of CAPAs.
- Provide primary Engineering analysis of and deviation from desired product quality attributes.
- Ensure GMP / Regulatory conformance.
- Perform duties as Subject Matter Expert for audits and inspections.
- Work with projects to develop long and short-range replacement and continuous improvement plans.
- Provides project management and validation coordination for projects.
- Provides technical support for on-site corporate functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge & Skills
- High level of technical expertise in resolution of process and equipment problems.
- Ability to make sound technical business decisions based on a wide variety of technical and business parameters; effectively communicate these decisions to all levels within the organization.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Must be an excellent communicator, able to interact with regulatory agencies.
- Must be a team-oriented person with a strong drive for results.
Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering (chemical, electrical, mechanical, biomechanical, or another technical field) required.
- 7+ years’ experience in Engineering with preference in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or cGMP environment or in Utilities engineering field.
Work Environment
- This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.
- This is largely a sedentary role.
- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time.
