Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented professional with outstanding written and verbal communication skills to join the Office of the President as the Manager, Special Projects. This position reports to the Chief of Staff.

The Manager, Special Projects is responsible for managing communications for the Office of the President, ensuring the highest standards. The Manager writes emails, letters, and other tailored correspondence in response to incoming inquiries, comments, and concerns. The Manager drafts and edits speeches and talking points. The Manager must represent the President with appropriate tone and style. This role requires sound judgment, political awareness, and the ability to recognize emerging issues while tailoring communications to meet the unique needs of each audience and situation. The Manager also serves as an event manager for the Office of the President, with responsibility for ensuring that the event details are well planned and executed and that the President is well prepared for his event obligations.

In addition, the Manager will analyze and prepare data on behalf of the President for internal decision-making and reports to the Board of Regents and other University stakeholders. The Manager will provide executive support to the Chief of Staff and will support the Executive Assistant to the President on priority projects and needs. The Manager will demonstrate an attention to detail, professional attitude, ability to maintain confidentiality, and ability to keep pace with a fast-paced work environment. 

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR

Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.

Related Experience: Communications, events, or administrative operations.

Certification and Licensure

Driver’s license

Compensation Grade

Manager – Comp Grade B
