Summary

The Department of Medicine is seeking a Nursing Supervisor with clinical, administrative, and leadership responsibilities with the ability to support the clinical operations within the department. This position is an outpatient position located at the McNair Campus in the Texas Medical Center with a general work schedule of Monday - Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, strong critical thinking skills, be regarded as a team player, an exceptional leader, have strong and proven organizational skills, and have a personal drive to be their best. All members of our team should have a passion for providing exceptional patient centered care each day no matter the patient population they are working within. 

 

The ideal candidate must have interest or experience working with several diverse teams and have exceptional leadership capabilities.

Job Duties

  • Ensures proper training and on-boarding of new clinical staff members by managing the on-boarding process and orientation schedule of new hires 
  • Preforms regular skill assessments of clinical staff members and provide in-services to those needing additional training.  
  • Ensures efficient operation of the clinical team by scheduling and planning for use of staff within the department.
  • Monitors metrics for desktop completion to ensure patient care is provided within a reasonably set amount of time. 
  • Assists with providing quality improvement within the department 
  • Communicates as a liaison between department and clinical leadership  
  • Monitors clinical staff members by directing, guiding, and influencing the outcome of an individual's performance and activity.   
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ​​​​​​Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Three years of relevant experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).   
  • Certification in area of specialty for non-BSN incumbents.
