Cook II Pin Up Pizza - Part Time (Harrah's Laughlin)

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen, knows their sauces from their stocks, and brings a touch of flair to every plate. As a Cook II, you’ll be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of dishes while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, presentation, and hospitality. You’ll be part of a dynamic resort team that values quality, teamwork, and “Family Style Service.”

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of menu items including meats, poultry, fish, pasta, vegetables, sauces, and pizzas according to recipe and prep standards.
• Master techniques such as sautéing, broiling, frying, baking, grilling, and pizza tossing.
• Create and garnish soups—clear, thick, and regional—with precision and creativity.
• Portion, plate, and present dishes consistently, following SOP guidelines and recipe specifications.
• Maintain awareness of all menu items and check orders for accuracy.
• Keep workstations, floors, counters, and equipment clean and sanitized at all times.
• Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines set forth by Harrah’s Laughlin and the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD).
• Assist other cooks and work unsupervised in a team-oriented environment.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by the management team.

Skills & Requirements

• Must have a valid SNHD Health Card.
• Strong understanding of mother sauces (espagnole, velouté, béchamel, tomato) and butter sauces.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and instructions in English with accuracy and urgency.
• Proficient in using knives, handheld tools, and kitchen equipment.
• Familiarity with different cooking oils and their temperature ranges.
• Ability to toss pizza pies and demonstrate a sense of urgency in serving guests.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours with appropriate mobility and endurance.
• Lift, push, and pull as needed in a busy kitchen environment.
• Adapt to hot, cold, and noisy conditions.
• Maintain a high level of energy and urgency while delivering exceptional service.
