Position Summary

The Team Lead - Deposit Support position is an advanced operational and entry level supervisory position on the Deposit Account Support team, within the Operations Department. The key expectation for this role is to provide support to the Assistant Manager or Manager with oversight for the daily and seasonal processing of all Deposit Account Support such as deposit charge-offs, account maintenance, CD renewals, IRA, Roth & ESA transactions, death claims, general fulfillment requests and any quality control and seasonal work as scheduled.

While demonstrating a high level of independence and accountability, the Team Lead will support the department by reviewing and supporting daily and seasonal activities and reports ensuring SLAs are met within the scope of IRS guidelines, state regulations, company policies and internal procedures. Monitor and communicate staffing levels and needs in respect to both daily and seasonal work; monitor arrival/departure times of Team Members. The individual in this role does have some supervisory duties and oversight. Provides coaching and training in support of employee development plans and department needs.

Demonstrate consistency and good judgment when reviewing and resolving daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc reporting exceptions in order to maintain accurate member records. Consistently demonstrate the ability to articulate processes to management orally and in written form, as well as to members and third parties, while maintaining professional security of sensitive member information. Balances daily as well as meets established department deadlines and goals. Ability to perform duties of all Deposit Support roles.

Work Location

This position is located at Corporate Headquarters in Downtown Baltimore. The incumbent will be required to report in the office for this role. Upon completion of 90 days incumbent may work a hybrid schedule.

Education

  • High School Diploma – Required
  • General Education Degree (GED) – in place of H.S. Diploma – Required
  • Associate’s degree or higher – Preferred
  • Certified IRA Professional (CIP) or Certified IRA Specialist certification – Preferred

Experience

  • Three (3) plus years of direct experience handling death claims or IRA, Roth or ESA transactions or tax files - Required
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in back-office processing in a financial environment - Required
  • Five (5) plus years of experience using multiple system applications, including a financial core, document storage systems and financial ancillary systems - Required
  • Demonstrate Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. - Required
  • Two (2) plus years of credit union experience - Preferred

Responsibilities / Essential Duties

  • Serve as a SME for all areas under Deposit Account Support, exercising compliance and knowledge in each area, resolving issues timely and effectively
  • Oversee and handle all escheatment processing needs: reports, notices, closures and submissions; meeting all SLAs and deadlines.
  • Oversee and handle all tax filing needs: reports, maintenance, notices/statements and internal communications; resolving issues with the support of the department’s management team; meeting all SLAs and deadlines.
  • Forecast volumes and staffing needs, updating the team’s assignments, meeting all SLAs and deadlines.
  • Ensure open and effective communication with Team Members and Management.
  • Ensure all GLs are balanced as scheduled, serve as SME to resolve GL issues.
  • Create and update procedures as required, complete annual procedure review as assigned.
  • Ability to provide training and cross training to peers.
  • Supports other duties as assigned, ensuring timely resolution of escalations and SLA's are met for the department.
  • Manage requests through incoming mail and internal tracking system, completing requests within the defined SLA.
