Managing Director & Chief Data Officer, Information Security & Control and Enterprise Platforms

 

Purpose

 

  • Leads and oversees Information Security and Control (IS&C) and Enterprise Platforms’ (EP) enterprise data management and data quality strategy, and supports implementation across those groups by:
  • Ensuring effective delivery of the overall global data management strategy and deployment of data management capabilities, including ensuring business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered across IS&C and EP in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures
  • Working closely with CID&A to implement and monitor compliance against industry leading data governance practices and data management capabilities, in alignment with enterprise strategic priorities, business line priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.


Accountabilities 


1. Defines, leads and drives data management capability across IS&C and EP by:

 

  • Defining the overall global data management strategy and deployment of data management capabilities including data quality, data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data creation and usage, issue management, and change management
  • Enabling the adoption of the Data Governance Framework
  • Collaborating with partners, across all the Lines of Business and Corporate functions to develop and enhance the Bank’s overall data governance and management capabilities, policy, practices, supporting technology, and talent development.
  • Leading definitions and implementation of industry leading data governance practices and data management capabilities across IS&C and EP  
  • Operating the Enterprise Data Domain/Location on-boarding process for IS&C and EP
  • Participating in data governance forums and processes including the Enterprise Data Council and cross-business/location working groups on behalf of IS&C and EP Developing metrics to track progress and report to senior management
  • Monitoring compliance with data policies and standards, including managing exceptions.
  • Ensuring data governance and management capabilities are implemented in accordance with enterprise policies and standards.

 


2. Assume IS&C and EP Data Officer title and be responsible for driving adoption of data management capabilities by:

 

 

  • Supporting IS&C and EP Data Domain efforts to adhere to Data Management Policies and adopt the data management processes and tools
  • Managing data domain relationships, assisting to mature data domains and support business ownership of data governance activities.
  • Supporting regulatory initiatives and efforts relating to data management. 
  • Understanding business requirements and aligning the data management program to these business objectives.
  • Ensures business stakeholder understanding, alignment, and commitment to the objectives of the data governance and management program.
  • Defines and operationalizes the organizational structures and operating models needed to support the objectives of the data program.
  • Ensures data governance and management capabilities are implemented in accordance with all Enterprise policies and controls.
  • Establishes leading data management practices and capabilities relating to data quality, data provisioning, metadata, lineage, reference data, issue management and change management across IS&C and EP.
  • Ensures that the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture is considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Communicates and incorporates the relevant risk appetite statement and risk appetite measures, in alignment with the Bank’s risk culture, into activities so as to embed prudent risk taking into day-to-day management, planning and decision-making; implement controls and processes to effectively identify, report and monitor risk; and, ensure timely action is taken to effectively manage and mitigate risks, including prompt escalation of breaches of management limits or risk appetite measures as per established processes.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to IT Risk, operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk,
