About this job:

Serves as a dedicated subject matter expert on coaching and distributive leadership, executing the districtwide strategic vision for coaching and distributive leadership in service of culturally responsive-sustaining instruction. Responsible for translating the district's overarching coaching frameworks into direct training and resources. The core function of this role is to coach leaders on how to coach. Working collaboratively across the Leader Development department, this role ensures that building leaders, central office staff, and peer leaders have the specific skills and observation tools they need to effectively coach the adults on their teams.

What You'll Do:

• Serves as a consultant, coach, and thought partner for leaders across the district. Directly trains and coaches Principals, Assistant Principals, and central office staff on how to effectively observe, provide feedback, and coach the educators and adults on their own teams
• Models exemplar culturally sustaining practices for instructional planning, data meetings, and feedback conversations
• Executes the design and facilitation of professional learning focused on adult coaching, culturally responsive sustaining education, and systems leadership
• Creates practical, easy to use resources aligned to the department's vision, including observation rubrics, feedback protocols, and coaching handbooks
• Partners directly with the Leader Development team to ensure consistent coaching practices are taught within their specific training programs and pathways
• Builds the capacity of Instructional Leadership Teams (ILTs) and central teams by modeling best coaching practices and running foundational leadership development sessions
• Assesses the instructional impact of coaching by leading continuous feedback cycles. Gathers on the ground feedback, observes live coaching sessions, and collects implementation data to continuously improve how the district trains its leaders
• Other duties as assigned

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Instructional Design and/or Organizational Development
  • Master's Degree in Education Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Pedagogy, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in instructional coaching, professional learning/development facilitation, or serving as a dedicated school/leadership coach
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory, inclusive facilitation standards, and building the instructional and coaching capacity of peer subject matter experts across varied departments and schools. 
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching theory, research, and practice, and an understanding of the social, cultural, and historical context of educational inequity.
  • Ability to deeply analyze and interpret instructional and coaching data to drive process improvements and effectively communicate findings. 
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information and navigating ambiguity Required Knowledge of effective instructional programs and methodologies
