About you and this role

Dow has an opportunity for a Mechanical/Process Containment Equipment (PCE) Engineer located in Plaquemine, LA. The Mechanical/PCE Engineer provides specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. In this role, you understand and implement Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within your discipline. The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance are comprised of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Disciplines support both projects and technical support teams as an inspector, engineer on large projects or lead for their discipline on small/intermediate projects. This position requires conceptual knowledge of theories, techniques and methodology within the analytical technology discipline.

Responsibilities

In the inspector and engineer capacity:

  • Ensure drawings and specifications are clear and meet the needs of the business.

  • Ensure reviews completed on time and that drawings and specifications are followed by fabricators, constructors and maintenance contractors when providing inspections.

In the project lead capacity:

  • Serve as the leader of the project within their discipline. Have accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.

  • Drive front end loading to ensure clear scope definition along with establishing plans and schedules to enable adequate control during execution.

  • Direct activities within your discipline and coordinate activities with other disciplines.

  • Lead the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure accurate reflection of scope.

  • Lead technical contract package development and support implementation.

  • Drive value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business.

  • Use and enforce project change management program.

  • Ensure safety in design.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required.

  • At least 3 years or more of Engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Additional Notes

  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
  • Some extended hours may be required based on business need.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role and may be provided based on eligibility.
