WATER PRACTICE

Michael Baker International’s Transportation Drainage Team provides innovative consulting, planning and engineering solutions for the entire spectrum of the water cycle. We have proven experience in providing a full range of professional services from scientific and technical analysis, concept through design, and construction support services. Protection and management of water resources starts at the watershed level and follows the movement of water through urban and agricultural areas, streams, lakes and reservoirs, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment plants.

DESCRIPTION

As a part of our Transportation Drainage Team, The Civil Associate I will assist both external and internal clients on a variety of projects. Your tasks will include hydrology and hydraulic modeling, design of flood control structures, development of project studies and technical reports, design of transportation drainage and storm drain analysis. You will be utilizing Bentley MicroStation, Inroads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Geographic Information System (GIS) and other specialized software in your daily work. You may also be involved with planning and data collection along with field work. 

• Provide support for hydrology or hydraulics studies by delineating watersheds, completing As-Built review, providing CAD support, or completing a field investigation.
• Complete calculations to determine runoff volumes or flow rates.
• Summarize findings of a study in a report and create supporting exhibits.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• You’ll need a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• You should be capable of working in either an office or field environment, as needed.
• You’ll need excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office), as well as experience working some knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics software.
• EIT/FE certificate is preferred.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $72,000-$90,000.   This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
