Key Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, test, and integrate digital power supply hardware into high-current, rapid charging battery systems.
- Develop DC-DC power conversion system functionality using mixed signal techniques.
- Collaborate on circuit design, PCB layout/review, and DSP firmware design.
- Facilitate transition of designs to high-volume production.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of industry experience (Bachelor’s) or 3+ years with a higher degree.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, demonstrating a robust portfolio of successful projects.
- Expertise in digital power supply design and power electronics, with strong proficiency in circuit design software (e.g., SPICE, Altium), including experience in schematic entry, PCB layout, and designing power systems/modules across a range of power topologies (from few watts to kW+ converters).
- Deep knowledge of thermal design for integrated circuits and power devices, high-voltage safety principles, design for isolation, hi-pot testing, and EMI test/control methods (MIL-STD-461, FCC/IDE/VDE, etc.).
- Familiarity with bench power supplies, loads, multimeters, and oscilloscopes, alongside a solid understanding of analog design, instrumentation, feedback/control systems, power system architecture, grounding, and transmission line effects in power systems.
- Proficiency in programming languages, particularly C/C++, applied within the context of electronics design and testing.
- Exceptional multitasking ability, thriving in a fast-paced startup environment, with a strong capacity to work effectively within diverse teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical information for non-technical peers and generating detailed technical reports.
- A meticulous documentation mindset and strong troubleshooting abilities, emphasizing diagnostic precision.
- Motivation to innovate in design architectures, assembly, component selection, and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with commercially released consumer or industrial electrical products.
- Advanced proficiency in C/C++ and experience in firmware development for various DSP architectures.
- Comprehensive understanding of battery management systems and experience with the full product lifecycle management from concept to high-volume production.
- Skills in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to work on-site in Carlsbad, CA.
