About the role

Chime is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our Savings team. The Savings team at Chime is focused on helping Americans save money on everyday expenses and build their safety net for the future. Today many Americans, 30%-40%, lack an emergency fund or the spare cash to cover an unexpected $400 expense. You will be part of a team at Chime whose goal is to make financial peace of mind a reality by building innovative, member-friendly products.

You will gain valuable professional experience working with cutting edge cloud technology platforms and distributed systems alongside engineers with a wealth of experience to share. This is an exciting opportunity to learn while playing a role in a fast-moving, product engineering team at Chime. 

This role is structured as a 3 month engagement. The starting hourly rate offered for this role and target level of experience will begin at $34 and up to $49. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience. 

 

In this role, you can expect to

  • Work alongside our experienced engineering team to design, develop, and maintain software that powers innovative, member-friendly financial services. 
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and user research.
  • Gain exposure to a variety of software technologies and programming languages, including but not limited to Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, React Native, AWS.
  • Have the opportunity to propose and implement your own ideas and solutions to improve our software applications and business operations.

 

To thrive in this role, you

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong organizational, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Creative thinker and self starter with a passion for consumer FinTech
  • Are flexible and enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects
  • Have a low ego and are comfortable working directly well with a wide range of stakeholders
