Chemours is seeking an Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Technician to join our Manufacturing & Operations team at our New Johnsonville, TN site. This hands-on role supports safe, reliable operations and offers a four-day work week with 10-hour shifts.
The Instrument & Electrical Technician supports safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems in a high-hazard chemical manufacturing environment. This role applies hands-on technical expertise to improve maintenance techniques, equipment reliability, and process control performance while upholding Chemours’ safety and ethical standards.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on process control systems including DCS, transmitters, variable speed drives, and control loops.
Calibrate gauges, controllers, transmitters, and other instruments in accordance with ISO and site standards.
Perform Lock, Tag, and Try (LTT) procedures to ensure equipment is safe for maintenance.
Maintain and troubleshoot motor control centers and motors; repair or replace as needed.
Utilize technical documentation (prints, manuals, and specifications) for troubleshooting and repair.
Follow all site safety, health, and environmental requirements, including proper PPE usage and vessel entry procedures.
Collaborate with operations, mechanical technicians, engineers, and vendors to resolve instrumentation and electrical issues.
Prepare and maintain maintenance, calibration, and compliance records for audits and regulatory needs.
Inspect plant areas, identify needed repairs, and participate in maintenance planning, shutdowns, and overhauls.
The following is required for this role:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of five (5) years of applicable industrial maintenance experience in Electrical or Instrumentation, OR
Minimum of two (2) years of applicable industrial maintenance experience plus an Associate Degree, equivalent technical or military training, or NCCER certification.
Ability to work rotating or flexible shifts and meet physical job requirements, including climbing, PPE use, and work in high-hazard environments.
The following is preferred for this role:
Experience in chemical or high-hazard manufacturing environments.
Experience with DCS systems, advanced instrumentation, and process control calibration.
