About the role

Position Overview

United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Food Service Team Lead to support daily food service operations and ensure high-quality meal preparation and delivery in a healthcare setting. The Food Service Team Lead plays a critical role in supervising staff, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring that patient and customer satisfaction goals are met. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include assigning tasks, monitoring food production and service, assisting with inventory management, and ensuring cleanliness and sanitation standards are followed at all times. The Food Service Team Lead also helps train new staff, supports compliance with health regulations, and may assist in resolving service issues. Previous food service experience and a demonstrated ability to lead a team are preferred. Shift flexibility, including weekends and holidays, may be required to meet operational needs.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Oversees food service staff to ensure service standards, tray accuracy, and delivery times are met, and that employees work safely and follow all policies

  • Instructs food service staff to complete assignments and all tasks during the shift

  • Works closely with kitchen management and supervisory team to address concerns, evaluate menu items, and improve food presentation and service

  • Discusses employee-related issues with management, including performance concerns, and provides input for performance appraisals

  • Makes coffee and special drinks, pours beverages, prepares dessert items and salads, sets up meal services, and prepares nourishments

  • Maintains highest levels of sanitation in work areas and handles food properly to maintain freshness and prevent foodborne illness

  • Functions quickly and accurately during meal service, including setup, service, and breakdown of stations or dining rooms

  • Delivers food items, nourishments, and supplies to units; sets up and serves meals with correct portion sizes and sanitary conditions

  • Works in the dish room, including scraping dishes, operating the dishwasher, transporting clean dishes, sorting silverware, and cleaning food service equipment

  • Removes garbage and trash from kitchens

  • Receives and stores food and non-food deliveries

  • Maintains order and cleanliness in dining rooms; cleans and restocks tables, condiment areas, serving areas, and kitchen equipment

  • Attends mandatory in-service training sessions and department meetings

  • Follows service delivery standards and complies with all regulations, policies, and safety procedures

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Serves on designated committees as assigned

  • Completes or assists with special projects as assigned

  • Completes all other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • 1 year of institutional food preparation

Preferred:

  • Dining room and/or banquet service experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
