Sr. Applications Technologist I

The Sr. Applications Technologist position specializes in the development of a wide variety of beverage products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Independently develop and optimize finished product formulations using various flavor delivery systems. Develop formulas featuring winning flavors, new technology and new product design proposals to add value to the flavor business.
• Must possess thorough understanding of finished product batching and processing
• Have ability to reverse engineer finished products from label declaration and nutrition panels.
• May direct Lab Technicians in batching finished products, screening flavors and conducting stability tests
• Interact with internal R&D partners and be able to lead cross-functional team projects that promote collaboration to contribute to winning submissions.
• Keep abreast of latest technical knowledge in terms of ingredients, formulations and processes through networking, interacting with suppliers, study and training.
• Stay current with new ingredients, flavor trends and changes to industry standards
• Provide technical expertise to support internal and external customers as needed during demos and presentations with account managers.
• Provide technical support at plant trials and production runs for customers. Participate in routine taste panels
• Provide mentorship and coaching for junior level Application team members and other internal R&D employees.

Requirements:

• BS in Food Science or other applied science.
• 7 or more years of application lab experience in 2 or more of the following areas; dairy/ plant beverage and sports nutrition strongly desired.
• Ability to work accurately, quickly and with good laboratory practices across multiple projects within the day / week.
• Candidate must possess good documentation skills and be adept at working within programs such as Excel, Word & assorted databases.
• Able to solve complex problems; capable of collecting information from various sources both internal and external
• Experience or the ability and interest to interact directly with customers or travel with Account Managers at times is desirable.
• Soft skills: we are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a team player, engaging and able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively.

Salary range: $69,160.46 - 103,740.70

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors. This role will remain open until filled.
