About the role

Department:

We are committed to creating meaningful social, environmental, and economic change in our communities.

Department Overview

WDTech is W&D’s in-house technology team – a group of highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology.

WDTech Engineering builds solutions that impact not only our products but also the people and processes across our organization. A commitment to innovation and a passion for disrupting the old-fashioned real estate industry are our highest priorities.

The Impact You Will Have

The AVP, Salesforce Development Manager is a senior “player/coach” technology leader responsible for the evolution, reliability, and delivery of our Salesforce platform across multiple teams and domains. This role shares ownership of quarterly OKRs, roadmap planning, and cross-team execution—driving scalable architecture, strong engineering governance, and measurable outcomes that connect to customer value and risk reduction. The AVP partners closely with VP, CRM Strategy and Solution, Product, WD Tech, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality solutions while continuously improving delivery and technical excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Co-own the Salesforce roadmap and quarterly OKRs with the VP, CRM Strategy & Solutions; translate strategy into delivery plans and manage cross-team dependencies.

  • Lead execution across multiple initiatives and departments, ensuring predictable sprint delivery, scope control, and on-time outcomes for complex programs.

  • Measure and improve platform health and delivery performance by defining/monitoring KPIs, identifying bottlenecks, reducing cycle time, and increasing release confidence.

  • Proactively manage delivery and technical risk, escalating early and negotiating trade-offs while protecting quality, security, and long-term platform sustainability.

  • Oversee architecture and solution design across declarative and programmatic development to ensure scalable, performant, maintainable solutions.

  • Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement through standards, reusable patterns, reference architectures, code quality practices, and resiliency upgrades.

  • Own CI/CD and release management maturity across multiple orgs, including branching strategy, automated validations/tests, approvals, and rollback planning.

  • Establish and enforce platform governance and security controls (access policies, role hierarchy, sharing model, permission sets, data quality, and environment strategy).

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform and integration issues and evaluate/adopt technologies and practices that improve speed, quality, and security.

  • Lead cross-functional planning and communication, removing blockers and clarifying ownership across teams; ensure PRDs/TDDs receive timely, actionable feedback through design reviews, Tech Talks, and postmortems.

  • Partner with product owners and stakeholders to refine requirements, manage scope, and deliver value across concurrent initiatives.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Salesforce engineering teams (developers/admins) across Sales and Service Cloud orgs; set expectations, coach performance, enforce accountability, and build inclusive teams with strong hiring and succession plans.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant hands-on Salesforce development.

  • 5+ years leading Salesforce/CRM engineering teams (people leadership and/or leading multiple teams).

  • Demonstrated experience operating Salesforce at scale, ideally including multi-org support, mature release/change management, and enterprise integrations (especially MuleSoft).

  • Salesforce Developer II, Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder, Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II, Salesforce Certified MuleSoft Developer II are required.

  • Salesforce Certified Integration Architecture Designer, Salesforce Certified Development Lifecycle and Deployment Designer, Salesforce Certified System Architect are preferred.
