Primary Therapist (PRN / Per Diem)

Recovery Centers of America (RCA)
Location: South Amboy, NJ – Raritan Bay Outpatient
Pay: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour
Schedule: Per Diem | Variable Shifts (9:00 AM – 9:00 PM)

 

Position Overview

 

The Primary Therapist plans, directs, and coordinates medically approved treatment programs for individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This role uses evidence-based, person-centered practices to inspire and motivate clients toward lasting recovery.

 

As a Primary Therapist, you will facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions while supporting clients in developing the tools and skills needed to maintain recovery for life.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients’ mental health, substance use, and readiness for treatment
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and recovery goals
  • Collaborate with clients and families to review and recommend treatment options
  • Facilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions
  • Help clients identify behaviors and triggers that interfere with recovery
  • Educate families about addiction and coping strategies
  • Refer clients to community resources, support groups, and additional services
  • Participate in outreach and education initiatives related to addiction awareness

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling preferred
  • Licensure preferred: MHC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or PhD in Psychology
  • CADC
  • 1–3 years of experience in behavioral health or substance abuse treatment
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations
  • Knowledge of dual-diagnosis case management

**A former patient may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at locations within RCA other than where they were treated within a year after treatment.
