SUMMARY: The Automation & Controls Specialist (ACS) will take the full responsibility for the at ready state of all equipment and supporting infrastructure for the Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company assets related to the production, Safety, and Quality of the business focus. 

The ACS will perform professional troubleshooting and electrical repair for all primary and support equipment. The Specialist will possess a high level of technical understanding within the concentrated technology, including operations, component life cycles, and activities required to maintain basic conditions. They will create training material specific to the technology, deploy training sessions, and validate transfer of knowledge within the department. Schedule work that needs to be completed during non-production hours and support complete preventive and predictive maintenance and troubleshooting of the electrical components of production equipment. The ACS is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems. The ACS will also be responsible for figuring out equipment electrical component needs and working with the Parts Specialist in maintaining required spares in the parts inventory.

As an Automation & Controls Specialist, you will work with the maintenance team to maintain and repair conveyance, automation, and facilities equipment to support operations uptime and improve the reliability of our systems. This role is the resident expert in controls, PLCs, communication protocols, and automation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  

• Maintain compliance with all safety, food safety, and company standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on machinery control components.
• Perform troubleshooting of equipment, electrical control systems and correct issues, act as an escalation point for lower-level technicians, and escalate to leadership and/or vendors as needed for additional troubleshooting.
• Lead root cause analysis of major downtime events
• Mentor all maintenance personnel in developing proper skill sets and knowledge of equipment, specializing in automation, controls, and robotics.
• Develop maintenance personnel knowledge on intermediate to advanced automation and controls.
• Partner with engineering contractors on commissioning of new controls systems
• Audit vendors work to supply feedback to leadership on quality of work and SLA performance.
• Write and/or modify PMs to standardize repairs and increase effectiveness.
• Create and maintain electrical drawing for equipment
• Perform building project work as assigned to include programming, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
• Attending training as needed to stay up to date on new equipment technology.
• Attend training to obtain safety certifications to train other employees and follow OSHA/ ISO standards.
• Perform after-hours support with the maintenance staff to help remediate electrical/control issues that may arise.
• Come into work as needed to provide support during off shifts and manage schedule to maintain working hours per week.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

COMPETENCIES: Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, with demonstrated supervisory and organizational skills. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals. Ability to utilize your skills in Power Transmission, welding, fabrication, air and fluid power and control, electrical and PLC programing, and troubleshooting to enhance all aspects of production operations are properly maintained.

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience 
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and compliance guidelines. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees or members of the business community. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with ability to present information to management.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
